When Your Dog Dines Better Than Most Humans: Pip Eats at InterContinental Sydney Double Bay

Jun 25, 2026Zoe

Fresh, wholefood meals. A five-star address. And a dachshund named Pipsqueak who started it all.

If you’ve ever worried about what your dog will actually eat while you’re travelling with them, we have the answer. Not just “they’ll manage” — but genuinely, properly dine.

The team at InterContinental Sydney Double Bay has built one of the most thoughtful dog-friendly stays in Australia — and they’ve put Pip Eats meals on the menu.

Your dog won’t just be fed. They’ll enjoy in-room dining at its finest.

A Hotel That Takes Dog Dining Seriously

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay’s Pet Getaway Package isn’t just a dog bed and a water bowl (though there are beautiful ones of those too). Guests are given access to a dedicated in-room dog dining menu, featuring a curated selection of Pip Eats meals alongside dog-friendly puptails and charcuterie boards from The Puptail Society.

The hotel chose Pip Eats for the same reason we exist: because dogs deserve real food, made from ingredients you can actually name.

What’s On the Menu

Two Pip Eats meals take centre stage on the InterContinental dog dining menu — and they’re a good introduction to what we’re about.

Brilliant Beef

90% lean Australian beef steak from NSW, paired with wholesome vegetables including kale, cauliflower, and blueberries. Served as our signature heart-shaped 90g patties. A brilliant little meal.

Cheeky Chicken

Real Steggles chicken breast (not “poultry meal” or “animal derivatives”) prepared fresh with carrot, pumpkin, baby spinach, and chia. Also served as a heart-shaped patty, because details matter.

Chooky Chompers

For snacking between harbour walks — single-ingredient air-dried Steggles chicken breast treats, made in small batches on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Pip Eats meals are delivered fresh to the hotel and prepared to order by the InterContinental kitchen; guests can choose raw or lightly cooked. All meals are developed by a Veterinary Nutritionist, meet AAFCO complete and balanced standards, and arrive in home-compostable packaging — so even the wrapper does right by the planet.

Why Named Cuts of Meat Matter

Pick up most commercial pet food and you’ll find vague ingredient lists — “meat”, “poultry meal”, “animal derivatives”. These terms are legal, but they tell you very little about what your dog is actually eating.

We do things differently. Every Pip Eats recipe is single protein: NSW beef steak, Steggles chicken breast. You know exactly what’s in the bowl, because we believe you should. And because our meals are developed with a board certified Veterinary Nutritionist — not just prepared with wholesome ingredients — they’re nutritionally complete and specifically balanced for dogs. Real food, properly designed.

That combination of transparency and nutritional rigour is exactly why InterContinental Sydney Double Bay chose to feature Pip Eats on their in-room dining menu. Their guests expect the highest standards. So do their dogs.

The Full Dog-Friendly Experience

The Pip Eats menu sits alongside the full Puptail Society offering — a range of dog-safe mocktails and a charcuterie grazing box created exclusively for dogs — giving your pet their own in-room dining experience while you enjoy the harbour views and the odd room service cocktail or two.

Mornings include a breakfast picnic to share, and Double Bay’s harbourfront walks and welcoming village cafés make for easy exploring together.

The Story Behind the Food

Pip Eats’ founders, Zoe and Guy, spent almost five years living aboard a catamaran, sailing across 25 countries with their two sons and Miniature Dachshund, Pipsqueak. Back on Australian soil, they wanted the same quality for Pip that they expected for the rest of the family — and couldn’t find it. So they made it themselves, engaging a board certified Veterinary Nutritionist to ensure every recipe was as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.

What began as a family project became Pip Eats & Treats — a full range of fresh frozen meals, air dried treats, broths and even pawty cakes, all made from restaurant quality ingredients and packaged to leave as little trace on the planet as possible. Pipsqueak remains the brand’s Chief Taste Tester, and the reason every recipe starts with the question: would we be happy eating this ourselves?

Getting onto the menu at one of Sydney’s most celebrated hotels isn’t something we take lightly. It’s a signal that the conversation around what dogs eat is changing — and that when five-star hotels want the very best for their doggy guests, they choose Pip Eats.
